PATEK PHILIPE Geneva Men's watch 750 thousandths gold case, varnished silver dial, Arabic numerals, off-center second hand at 6 o'clock, back engraved "A D. ANTONIO LAMARO LOS INDUSTRIALES DEL HOTEL COLON BARCELONA JUNIO DE 1951". Gross weight: 39 g (Hands not original, wear to dial, modern bracelet, launches without guarantee of functioning). History: Italian engineer Antonio LAMARO (1893-1963) decided to build his own hotel in Barcelona in 1951, having once searched in vain for a hotel room in the city. The hotel still exists in the "bario gotico" opposite Santa Eulalia Cathedral, where celebrities such as Hemingway, Sartre, Sofia Loren, Francis Ford Coppola and Juan Miro (who stayed there in the 60s) have been welcomed. Provenance: this watch was given to Antonio LAMARO by the contractors who built the Hotel Colon, by descent.
