Alfred BARYE (1839-1882) Cheval "Vermouth" En bronze à patine brune Alfred BARYE (1839-1882) Horse "Vermouth Brown patina bronze, signed, dated 1864, located Chantilly on the terrace and bearing a label stating "Vermouth by Thenabob and Vermeille, Winner of the Grand Prix de Paris, Bade et autres, belonging to Monsieur Delamarre, 1864". H. 50.5 cm - W. 59 cm - D. 20.5 cm (one of the reeds broken). History: In 1859, Count Pierre Roederer created a stud farm on part of the Bois-Roussel estate that his grandfather, Count Pierre-Louis Roederer, had acquired in 1814. He teamed up with Henry Delamare, and success was not long in coming: Vermouth won the Grand Prix de Paris in 1864.
